ABOUT THE AUTHOR
V. L. Miller has been helping young children overcome their learning difficulties. During this time she has had access to thousands of children's books. Many could touch your heart or bring feelings of joy, others captivated with their ideas and illustrations. Since retirement from teaching, Miller finally has the time and resources to combine experience and Fine Arts background to follow one of her lifelong dreams: Writing and illustrating a children's book of her own.
It took a while to come up with an idea that Miller thought would hold children's interest, but all she had to do was look around me. What was she passionate about? Her love of children, but also her compassion and attachment to animals! At that time Miller had 5 dogs living in my home. Four of them were rescues that she brought home at different times and circumstances. She tried fostering but quickly became too attached to give them up. Miller found their interactions as a pack, very interesting and telling!
Corky was the most colorful and had beautiful markings, so Miller chose to begin with him. "Corky Boy," has been well received by children of all ages, as well as adults, and she has been asked to do a series that showcases my other furry family members.
