ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ashleigh Heyns was born in Zimbabwe but grew up in South Africa. She always wanted to tell stories and be an artist and ended up doing just that in so many different ways. She is still quite new to publishing but has been writing and illustrating books for many years, seeing and learning what works and what doesn’t work. She is now a school Librarian. She has three children, a son and two daughters, and a kind and understanding husband, Zane.

Collage is the medium Heyns used to create Squeaky Clean. She paints sheets of different types of paper in fun colours that go well together and think up interesting patterns she can put on them; once they’re painted up and dry, she cuts the paper into the shapes needed and sticks them together to build the illustration.
