Percentage of book profits donated to Winter Street Studios artists

An early morning fire ravaged artwork in one of the nation's largest art communities on Tuesday, December 20. Winter Street Studios, a part of Sawyer Yards, home to Houston’s creative heart, was burned early that morning. Two artists’ studios were destroyed, and the majority of the building suffered extreme smoke damage. Arson is suspected.

"This is gone," Potts, who owns the studio where the fire started, said. "There is no lifeboat. There is no 'I'll get a check to recover.' I have to figure out how to recover."

Di Angelo Publications has been honored to work with artists Taft and Dana McWhorter. Together, they proudly compiled a collection of artists, several with studios at Winter Street, and artwork that depicts a timestamp of the Houston art scene to publish 50 Artists: Houston

50 Artists:Houston is a passion project. Each chapter features a different artist. Painters, photographers, sculptors, furniture designers and body painters, all with different personalities and styles. These unique individuals are all focused on making a living by creating and selling their artwork.

"They have affected hundreds of people's careers," Holly Nowak said. "Every piece of art I've ever done is in that building. I have nothing. I have no art left."

Di Angelo Publications will donate 20 percent of profits from collaborative book, 50 Artists: Houston, to affected artists in Winter Street Studios fire.
